In 2007, ABB was contracted to manufacture the underwater cable for BritNed. It will run appr. 500 kilometres between UK and the Netherlands.
Hörle Wire has been ABB’s main supplier of armouring wire for many years.
Depending on the type of cable, there are a number of different types of armouring wire. Thin cables, like fiberoptics, are fragile and demand a hard wire, providing strength and protecting the cable. Thicker cables, like electricity cables, weigh more. In those instances, the armouring wire protects the cable from breaking when it is rolled out, after which it only acts as an extra layer of protection against tampering.
At Hörle Wire, we have extensive experience of armouring wire and we help you produce precisely the product that meets your needs.
