Roland Jakobsson, Supply Chain Manager, ABB
ABB is a leader in power and automation engineering. They create solutions that improve performance and minimise environmental impact for power and industry companies. The ABB group operates in around 100 countries and employs approximately 104,000 people.
In 2007, ABB was contracted to manufacture the underwater cable for BritNed. It will run appr. 500 kilometres between UK and the Netherlands.
Hörle Wire has been ABB’s main supplier of armouring wire for many years.
– This is a big order for us, says Roland Jakobsson, Supply Chain Manager at ABB. And hence, naturally, it is a big order for Hörle Tråd. They will deliver 7,000 tons of wire to the BritNed project and for 3 more projects during 2008-2010.
Because of the length of the cable, it is manufactured in segments that are joined later. 2009, we focus on armouring.
– Our collaboration with Hörle works excellently, says Roland Jakobsson. They are flexible, in the best sense of the word. That is definitely not an exaggeration.
– We have during the years placed many orders to Hörle, says Roland Jakobsson. They are always very well prepared. Sometimes, we have had to slow down the pace of production, only to quickly increase it again on short notice. Hörle Tråd have always been very flexible and service-minded.
